— Teachings of Truth
— Teachings of Truth
The concluding Salok of Japji Sahib comes after the 38th Pauri and serves as a final summary of the spiritual journey described throughout the composition.
Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat.
Divas Raat Due Daee Daia, Khelai Sagal Jagat.
Changiaaeeaa Buriaaeeaa Vaachai Dharam Hadoor.
Karmee Aapo Aapnee Ke Nerrai Ke Door.
Jinee Naam Dhiaaiaa Gae Masakat Ghaal.
Nanak Te Mukh Ujle Keti Chhutee Naal.
Air is the Guru.
Air sustains life and teaches silently, just as a Guru guides.
Water is the Father.
Water nourishes and sustains all living beings.
The Earth is the Great Mother.
The Earth supports and nurtures all life.
Day and night act like caretakers within whose care the world plays out its existence.
Good and bad actions are weighed in the presence of Dharma (righteous order).
By one's actions, one draws nearer to or farther from the Divine.
Those who meditate on the Divine Name (Naam) and live with sincere effort fulfill their lives.
Nanak says: their faces shine with honor, and many others are uplifted through them.
The concluding Salok brings together several themes of Japji Sahib:
Reverence for nature
Personal responsibility for one's actions
Remembrance of the Divine (Naam)
Honest effort and truthful living
Spiritual realization benefiting not only oneself but others as well
The closing verse teaches that those who live in harmony with truth, remember the Divine, and act righteously attain spiritual fulfillment and become a source of upliftment for others.
